Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Canadian Bridge Academy– the ONLY international school in Nigeria to deliver 100% Canadian curriculum from Early Years to High School, and the foremost Canadian international school in Nigeria to offer students an official and certified Canadian diploma (OSSD)!

First a bit about me.

My name is Daniel J. Sikkema, I am from Ontario, Canada, and it is my distinct honor to be the new Principal here at Canadian Bridge Academy (CBA).

After graduating from my program in Education at Brock University and becoming a licensed and certified member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in 2016, I moved to Nigeria for a full-time teaching job at an international school in Jos, Plateau state, where I headed the High School English Department for seven years.

Canadian Bridge Academy” is a name I can relate to, as a Canadian involved in academics who has spent seven years in this great nation and experienced a bridging between the culture of my own country, and the culture here in Nigeria. With a professional background in Canadian education, and years of experience living and working in Nigeria, I deeply understand both sides of this bridge and am privileged and excited to join the CBA family.

Our 100% Canadian curriculum affords CBA the genuine status of an international school – and one with a complete commitment to academic excellence, to the cultivation of strong character, and to equipping students with well-rounded life skills that will foster success in whatever pathway they choose for their future. An education in Canadian curriculum is one that is coveted internationally for these reasons, and we are proud and excited to offer this curriculum, taught by expert educators who are trained in this curriculum.

In this manner, CBA acts as a bridge between continents and cultures, providing access for your child to a wide range of opportunities after graduation, and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to step into any of these opportunities with competence and confidence. We also proudly embrace and celebrate the elegance and prestige of Nigerian heritage and culture at this school; our status as a Canadian international school is not to the exclusion of our status as a school in Nigeria! If anything, the bridging between cultures espoused at CBA highlights the beauty of human diversity, as well as the beautiful way which we find unity in this diversity through our shared goals of crafting success, excellence, and character.

To arrive at these shared goals, we espouse a growth mentality at CBA. A growth mentality is one that recognizes the uniqueness of the individual student and celebrates this uniqueness; it is one that understands individual strengths and weaknesses and seeks to address both; it is one that embraces both successes and failures as key to the learning process; it is one that both eagerly encourages and challenges to improve; it is one that perceives learning as an incredible and lifelong journey that meanders upwards with time and practice; it is one that highlights the importance of seeing each individual as a critical part of the body of human civilization, and one that equips the individual to eagerly embrace this great responsibility!

With limited enrollment available, we hope you consider the CBA family and join us on this journey.

Daniel J. Sikkema,

Principal
