Friendship is an essential component of human socialization, especially among teenagers. Students spend a lot of time with their peers both in and out of school, creating opportunities to influence both positively and negatively their academic performance. Being with friends can have a significant impact, both positively and negatively, on a student’s academic performance. This article examines the impact of good and bad friendships on student academic performance.
GOOD PEER INFLUENCE
A good Peer is a group of friends who have a positive influence on a student’s academic performance. These friends are usually responsible, disciplined, and motivated, and encourage their peers to focus on their studies. The presence of such friends can have some positive effects on a student’s academic performance.
First, good peers motivate students to study hard and get good grades. Students are more likely to imitate the study habits of their peers, and when they observe their friends being diligent and conscientious, they are more likely to behave similarly. This allows us to create a culture of academic excellence that encourages students to study hard and achieve their academic goals.
Secondly, the good company helps students stay focused and free from distractions. Peer pressure can be a powerful motivator, and if a student’s friends are focused on their studies, they are less likely to engage in activities that interfere with their academic performance. This helps students stay on track and make the most of their time at school.
Finally, good peers can provide emotional support to students struggling with academic performance. Students who have supportive friends are more likely to have higher self-esteem and be more confident in their abilities. This will help you overcome academic challenges and succeed in research.
BAD PEER IMPACT
Bad peers refer to a group of friends who negatively influence a student’s academic performance. These friends may be rebellious, irresponsible, or academically indifferent, and may encourage peers to participate in activities that may distract them from their studies.
First, bad peers can lead to poor school performance. Students who spend time with friends who are not academically interested are more likely to have similar attitudes, which can lead to lack of motivation and lower grades. This can lead to a vicious cycle of underperformance that is difficult to break.
Secondly, bad company interferes with students’ studies. Students who spend time with friends engaged in non-academic activities may also participate in those activities. This wastes valuable time that could be spent studying and can lead to poor grades or poor grades in school.
Finally, bad company can have a negative impact on a student’s emotional health. Students who spend time with friends who do not support them or exhibit negative behaviour can do this.
